1. Follow the demonstration on shading and tone.
Draw a shape that best depicts your zine theme. Shade and tone the shape with a medium good for achieving tonal range and with a one point light source.
We will take a photo and it will make up one of the pages of your zine.

2. Follow a demonstration on the merging layers exercise.
1. Download
the lesson images from the teachers blog
URL:
Right click on the images/save as/navigate
to your student folder/save
2. Open
Photoshop
3. Go
to file/new
to create your blank
page.
4. Create
a page with Width 29.7 Height: 21cm Resolution: 300pixels per inch.
5.
Go to
file/open/navigate to your student
folder/select all of the lesson images/open.
6. Select
/copy/paste the first image across to your blank page.
7. Go
to edit/transform/scale to scale up the size of the images.
8. Use
the MOVE TOOL to position the image.
9. Repeat
steps 6, 7, & 8 for the second image.
10. Highlight
one of the layers from the layers palette and change its opacity by adjusting
the opacity value at the top right hand side of the layers palette.
11. Use
the ERASOR TOOL to take out parts of the image that are not necessary for the
composition.
12. Create
a pleasing image.
Use the following images to repeat the example shown in class.
Save as a jpg and upload to your blog.
3. Conduct the exercise again following your own theme and a selection of images related to that theme.
Repeat but using a warm color palette.
It will make up one of the pages of your zine.
Repeat again but using a cool color palette
It will make up one of the pages of your zine.
4. If you could choose one color to represent your theme what would it be? Why? using the medium of your choice create a page of that color. See what textures you can achieve in your chosen color with your chosen medium.
We will take a photo and it will make up one of the pages of your zine.
